SKY express: Strong International Growth for the Greek Carrier with +33% in Q2 2025

AnnouncementJul 22, 2025
  • +33% international passenger traffic
  • +34% available international seats
  • +16% total passenger traffic
  • +15% flight revenues
  • +10% total number of flights

With a consistently upward trajectory, SKY express delivered remarkable performance in the second quarter of 2025, confirming its dynamic expansion both domestically and abroad. The airline’s total passenger traffic increased by 16% compared to the same period in 2024, while total flight revenues rose by 15%.

Even more impressive were the results in international markets: international passenger traffic surged by 33%, complemented by a 34% increase in available seats abroad, reflecting SKY express’s strategic focus on strengthening its presence during peak travel periods. In line with this strategy, the airline recently announced the addition of six new international destinations from autumn 2025: Hamburg, Berlin, Lisbon, Lyon, Madrid, and Tel Aviv. This move is part of SKY express’s broader strategic plan to continuously reinforce its international operations, focusing on key markets and offering passengers even more travel options.

It’s worth noting that the airline’s total flight operations increased by 10% in the second quarter, alongside a significant fleet expansion. During 2024, two new Airbus A320neos were added, and just last month another aircraft joined the fleet, bringing the company’s total number of aircraft to 28. Furthermore, by September, one more Airbus A320neo is expected to be delivered, further boosting the airline’s momentum.

SKY express boasts the youngest fleet in Greece, with an average age of only 3.8 years for its Airbus neo and 2.8 years for its ATR 72 600. Committed exclusively to technologically advanced aircraft equipped with cutting edge CFM LEAP 1A engines, the airline honors its relationship of trust with passengers by offering a top-tier travel experience and high-quality service.

Results were also especially positive at the Thessaloniki base, which recorded a 5% increase in passenger traffic. The airline already operates eight domestic non stop flights from Thessaloniki and has established a successful direct connection to Larnaca over the past four years. This autumn, it is further expanding its international network with a new non stop flight to Dusseldorf—a significant move that strengthens Northern Greece’s connectivity with key international markets and opens new growth opportunities.

Passenger trust remains the primary engine of SKY express’s growth, with over 5 million passengers choosing the airline in 2024. In 2025, this dynamic expansion continues, with projections indicating further growth in traffic compared to the previous year, confirming the airline’s increasingly strong position in both the Greek and European aviation markets.

Commenting on the results, Mr. Gerasimos Skaltsas, Chief Commercial Officer of SKY express, said: “Our performance in Q2 2025 confirms SKY express’s steady growth across all key operational and financial metrics: flight operations, passenger traffic, and revenues. In particular, the rise in international passenger traffic reflects the ongoing expansion of our international network, while we continue to maintain the largest domestic route network in Greece. At the same time, we are consistently investing in our fleet with new technologized aircraft equipped with state-of-the-art engines—true to our commitment to deliver modern, safe, and high quality flights centered on the passenger and their needs.
