Fare types & baggage allowance

Each of our passengers can carry in the cabin of the aircraft at no extra charge, up to one (1) piece of hand luggage and one (1) small personal item. The personal item can be 1 personal item, handbag or laptop case, with maximum dimensions 40 x 30 x 15 cm and must fit under the front seat.

The hand luggage, which should have a maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 23 cm and should not exceed 8 kg in economy and 13 kg in BLISS & BLISS+ (Business class), is stored in the space above the seats.

If the overhead bins are full, your carry-on may need to be checked at the gate at no extra cost, as long as it complies with the allowed dimensions and weight.

Each passenger may carry luggage, which must be delivered to the SKY express boarding control point.

The total dimensions (Length + Width + Height) must not exceed 156cm.

The permissible weight of the checked luggage varies according to fare category. In any case, passengers may purchase additional baggage or extra kg according to their needs.

Infants (0-2 years old) are only entitled to carry a folding stroller which is checked in and handed over to SKY express staff for storage in the hold of the aircraft. The stroller will be delivered to you with priority upon arrival, depending on airport availability.

With regard to children’s baggage (2 to 12-year-old children), the baggage limits are the same as the baggage limits for adult passengers.

Children over 2 to 12 years old, are entitled to carry a folding stroller which is checked in and handed over to SKY express staff for storage in the hold of the aircraft. The stroller will be delivered to you with priority upon arrival, depending on airport availability. The service is free of charge and in addition to any baggage entitlement according to purchased fare type.

Extra fees shall be charged in case of overweight baggage that exceeds the permissible limits and does not exceed 32 kg per item.

Charges are applied per kilo with purchase options of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10 kg as follows:

*For the season (01/04-31/10 & 12/12-07/01).

The passenger is also able to purchase additional (extra) luggage weighing fifteen (15) and twenty-three (23) kilos at a predetermined price.

*Domestic Routes: For the season (01/04-31/10 & 12/12-07/01), for all routes except to and from Zakynthos, Skiathos, Mykonos, Santorini, Kefalonia and Naxos.

The maximum total baggage allowance per passenger is 5 pieces with a maximum weight of 32kg per bag.

To give an example, if a passenger is traveling on a SKY joy+ fare (one item of 15 kg baggage) and carries two (2) items of baggage that exceed the total fare limits, e.g. 1 bag of 18 kg + 1 bag of 17 kg, the passenger will need to purchase one (1) additional bag and five (5) additional kg.

The electronic online purchase of additional (extra) baggage or the possibility of transporting excess weight items shall be available up to three (3) hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight, through Manage my Booking. The charges for additional (extra) baggage or excess weight items are non-refundable.

In case of cancellation of the flight by SKY express or loss/significant damage of the checked-in baggage, all charges related to the checked-in baggage shall be refunded.

Avoid waiting or standing in line and take advantage of priority bag, which gives you the opportunity to pick up your baggage within a short period of time after landing.

The service is available at all airports in the SKY express network and is provided free of charge in BLISS & BLISS+ (Business Class).

For SKY Joy fares, SKY Joy+ & enjoy the Baggage Priority service provided for a charge of 5€. The service for the SKY enjoy fare is free only on both domestic (Greece) and international routes.

An item of baggage is considered to be special baggage if it weighs up to 32 and/or is larger than 156 cm (the total of width X + height Y + depth Z). The maximum length must be 150cm for ATRs and 250cm for Airbus.

The charges for special baggage are additional to the excess baggage fee.

Passengers can carry their musical instrument, including its case, free of charge in the cabin instead of hand luggage if it does not exceed 55 x 40 x 23 cm dimensions.

If the musical instrument exceeds the dimensions of cabin baggage (55 x 40 x 23 cm), passengers can carry it in the cabin by adding the extra seat service.. This service allows the passenger to place their musical instrument in the adjacent seat on the aircraft. It is available at an additional charge through our call centre or a travel agent.

In case the musical instrument exceeds 150 cm, it will be transported as checked baggage for an additional charge of 40€.

*The maximum permitted size for sports equipment is 150 cm for ATR and 250 cm for AIRBUS aircraft, and it should weigh up to 32 kg.

Below are the charges per sports equipment category:

The “online” special baggage or sports equipment purchase is only possible up to three (3) hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight. The relevant charges and any amount paid so that it is possible to carry special baggage or sports equipment are not refunded if the ticket is cancelled.

The unaccompanied baggages and sports equipment can be carried only as cargo, therefore the cargo charges shall apply in this case.

In the event of cancellation of a flight by SKY express all sums collected by SKY express for the carriage of special baggage or sports equipment are refunded.

Sport equipment can be considered as part of your baggage allowance of your fare ticket only if the relevant dimensions and weight do not exceed the predefined baggage allowance and there is no additional extra baggage in your booking.
Eg. Passenger with enjoy fare where he has a 23kg free baggage can hold his bowling equipment as his free baggage only if there is no other extra paid baggage in his booking and the dimension and weight of the bowling equipment is on the acceptable dimensions.

Sports equipment may not include all items per item. Even if the passenger travels with only one piece of sports equipment, the charge is made according to the table that includes the list of sports equipment.

Scuba diving equipment may be accepted as checked baggage provided that the air or oxygen supply bottles (spare bottles included) are completely empty. Passengers must confirm that the bottles are empty upon check-in, by opening the valve. Engine driven compressors used for filling air bottles cannot be carried as checked baggage.

It is strictly forbidden to transport weapons and ammunition both in the checked baggage and in the passenger’s cabin baggage.

Weapons and ammunition that are allowed to be transported under the applicable legislation must be declared at the check-in counters, placed in a special case and carried to the luggage compartment. The holder of the weapon is responsible for its unloading and appropriate packaging. Any ammunition which is permitted for transportation must be packed separately from the weapon.

The reservation for carrying a weapon and ammunition is made only through the call center and the relevant legislation in force shall apply as there are many countries that do not allow carrying weapons except for the service weapons.

The charge per weapon or ammunition carriage is 40€. The charge per carriage from Larnaca International Airport (LCA) is 120€.

The carriage of service weapons is free of charge.

It is the passenger’s full responsibility to be in possession of all related documentation required by the departure and arrival point authorities, including any intermediate stations.

Please make sure that during the flight you don’t have any of the following with you:

• Disabling devices such as pepper spray, electroshock weapons, stun guns or any other object containing irritant or incapacitating substance.
• Alcoholic beverages (containing over 70% alcohol by volume)
• Dangerous goods such as compressed gases, lithium batteries.
• Security –type attaché cases, cash boxes, cash bags, etc. incorporating dangerous goods, such as lithium batteries and/or pyrotechnic material.
• Explosive substances or articles which are liable to dangerously react, produce a flame or dangerous evolution of heat.
• Items containing or liable to emit toxic, corrosive or flammable gazes or vapors.
• Non safety matches or cigar lighters with blue flame.
• Liquid Oxygen systems /cylinders.

Not allowed in your checked luggage:

Passengers are not allowed to carry in their checked luggage any explosive substances and incendiary materials and devices including the following:

• Ammunition (please check for Exception at the end of the list)
• Capsules
• Detonators and fuses
• Mines, grenades and other explosive ordnance
• Fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices
• Smoke canisters and cartridges
• Dynamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives

Not allowed in your carry-on luggage (cabin & personal item):

Passengers are not allowed to carry the following items in their carry-on luggage (cabin and personal item):

• Weapons, firearms, and other devices that launch projectiles, that are capable or appear capable, of being used to cause serious injury by launching a projectile, including:
  • All kinds of firearms, such as pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns
  • Toy weapons, replicas, and imitations of firearms that could be mistaken for real weapons
  • Parts of firearms, except for sights
  • Air and CO2-powered weapons, such as pistols, shotguns, rifles, and weapons that carry pellets
  • Flare guns and starting pistols
  • Bows, crossbows, and arrows
  • Harpoons and spearguns
  • Slingshots and stone throwers
• Paralyzing & Stunning devices which are specifically designed to stun and to cause paralysis or immobilization, including:
  • Immobilization devices (for shocking), such as temporary paralysis weapons, electroshock weapons, stun guns, tasers, stun rods and stun batons.
  • Non-lethal anesthetizing and euthanizing devices for animals, commonly referred as animal stunners and animal killers.
  • Disabling and incapacitating chemicals, gases, and sprays commonly used for neutralization and immobilization, such as neutralizing gas, mace, peppers sprays, capsicum sprays, tear gas, acid sprays and animal repellent sprays.
• Sharp-edged or pointed objects, that are capable to cause serious injury, including:
  • Cutting tools, such as small and large axes and hatchets
  • Ice picks and ice breakers
  • Razor blades
  • Cutters
  • Knives with blades longer than 6 cm
  • Scissors with blades longer than 6 cm from the point of attachment
  • Martial arts objects with sharp edges or pointed ends
  • Swords and sabers
  • Cleavers
• Professional tools, that may cause serious injury, including:
  • Maces and Crowbars
  • Drills and drill bits, as well as cordless portable drills
  • Tools with blades or shafts longer than 6 cm that can be used as weapons, such as screwdrivers and chisels
  • Saws, as well as cordless portable saws
  • Stoves & Blow torches
  • Screwing and pinning guns (commonly referred as bolt and nail guns)
• Pointed tools, that may cause serious injury when used aggressively, including:
  • Baseball and softball bats
  • Maces and rods, such as police clubs, truncheons, and protective rods
  • Martial arts equipment
• Explosive and incendiary materials and devices that are capable or appear capable to cause serious injury, including:
  • Ammunition
  • Caps
  • Fuses and detonation cords
  • Replicas or imitations of explosive devices
  • Mines, hand grenades, and other explosive munitions
  • Fireworks and other pyrotechnics
  • Smoke canisters and cartridges
  • Dynamite, gunpowder, and plastic explosives.
• Liquid, aerosols and gels, unless subjected to security control using LEDS equipment, based on the relevant procedures applicable at the airport or if exempt from security checks according to the provisions of this document.

Allowed in your checked luggage:

• Alcoholic beverages (containing up to 70% alcohol by volume, in receptacles not exceeding 5L, with a total net quantity per person of 5L)
• Ammunition (cartridges for weapons), securely packaged. Quantities not exceeding 5kg gross weight per person.
• Camping / expeditionary equipment and fuel containers with empty fuel tank and/or fuel container.
• Dry ice (carbon dioxide, solid) in quantities not exceeding 2,5 kg.
• Properly packed knives and cutting instruments
• Sporting equipment
• Non – flammable, non-toxic aerosols with no subsidiary risk, for sporting or home use.
• Thermometer, medical or clinical which contain mercury, when in its protective case.

Allowed in your carry-on:

• Matches (one small packet) or a small cigarette lighter
• Properly packed liquids up to 100ml and up to 10 pieces
• Batteries, spare / loose not exceeding 100wh, including lithium metal or lithium ion cells or batteries for portable electronic devices
• E-cigarettes including e-cigars, e-pipes other personal vaporizers but containing batteries must be individually protected to prevent accidental activation
• Lamps, energy efficient when in retail packaging intended for personal or home use.
• Non-radioactive medicinal or toiletry articles (including aerosols) such as hair sprays, perfumes colognes and medicines containing alcohol up to 100ml
• Oxygen on air, gaseous, cylinders required for medical use. The cylinder must not exceed 5kg gross weight.
• Portable electronic devices containing non – spillable batteries.
