GNTO and SKY express forge Successful Partnership to elevate Greece's Tourism in European Markets.

The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) and SKY express have concluded their annual collaborative campaign with resounding success, reaching over 20 million potential tourists across Europe. This strategic alliance aimed to position Greece as the premier tourist destination, showcasing its diverse offerings to a wide audience.

Throughout a twelve-month program, GNTO and SKY express executed six meticulously planned advertising campaigns, spanning both digital and traditional media channels. By leveraging the latest advertising trends and tools, the partnership ensured Greece remained prominently featured in the minds of consumers throughout the year.

A primary objective of the joint campaign was to extend the tourist season and reduce seasonality by promoting unique and diverse experiences across Greece. By highlighting attractions beyond the typical summer destinations, the initiative aimed to stimulate demand during the winter months and encourage visitation to lesser-known regions of the country.

The results of this collaboration speak volumes, with notable achievements including:

  • A remarkable 74% year-on-year increase in tourist arrivals from the five main target markets—France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, and Great Britain—during the winter of 2023.
  • A substantial 73% year-on-year growth in demand from these markets during the summer of 2023.
  • Over 20 million tourist-consumers reached through GNTO’s and SKY express's advertising campaigns across Europe.

As emphasized by Mrs. Angela Gerekou, BoD President of the Greek National Tourism (GNTO), and Mr. Dimitris Frangakis, Secretary General of GNTO, “Partnerships stand as a fundamental prerequisite for the advancement of Greek tourism. Hence, in recent years, GNTO has undertaken an extensive co-advertising initiative with domestic and international airlines. Particularly, the recent program, spearheaded by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis last year, aimed at two pivotal objectives: extending the tourist season and promoting new destinations nationwide. A segment of this initiative was executed in collaboration with SKY Express, the Greek airline. The outcome has been exceptional, significantly bolstering the country's global image and successfully fulfilling all predefined objectives. We extend our gratitude to SKY express for their steadfast cooperation, which we anticipate continuing, as we jointly pursue the overarching objective of positioning Greece as a premier destination worldwide.”

Respectively, in his statement, Gerasimos Skaltsas, Chief Commercial Officer of SKY express, remarked: "GNTO and SKY express are once again partnering in the national endeavor to establish Greece as the premier year-round destination. With the largest network of destinations across Greece, it is our imperative and consistent practice to promote our country throughout the year.
