Collaboration with Lean In Network Greece (Athens) for women’s empower-ment in border cities of Greece.

AnnouncementJul 11, 2023

True to its commitment to responsible development that combines achieving its commercial goals with the sustainability of the environment and the well-being of society, SKY express proceeds in cooperation with the Greek affiliate of the international nonprofit organization Lean In, Lean In Network Greece (Athens).

The collaboration aims to empower women and strengthen their professional and personal skills through educational workshops that will include, among others, the development of lead-ership characteristics, time management, methods of balancing work and professional life, personal communication, basic marketing principles, etc.

The program initially aims at young women living and working in border cities and other remote urban and non-urban areas of regional Greece. It will then be developed in the rest of the country and other age groups, with the aim of covering more than 15 cities throughout Greece in the next two years.

It will be launched on Thursday, July 13, in one of SKY express's most favorite destinations, Alexandroupolis, with the women's leadership development workshop "Together we fly high".

Ms. Cleio Kouvela, Head of Communications & Corporate Affairs of SKY express said about the partnership: "SKY express ought to be an environmentally and socially responsible choice for the passenger. In this context, we cannot ignore that women, both in Greece and globally, are under-represented, encounter obstacles in their career and personal life, still face conscious and unconscious biases. Via our collaboration with Lean in Network Greece (Athens), an organization that connects, networks and encourages women around the world to achieve their goals in their workplaces, but also in society, we wish to contribute to eliminate all these barriers. We start by standing by to women of the cities that host us, showing our respect and willingness to return to the local communities and grow together."

Areti Georgili, co-leader Lean In Network Greece (Athens) stressed: "We are very happy with this collaboration. For us, an organization based exclusively on volunteers, working with companies that share the same values is extremely important because this is the only way we can achieve more and reach our shared goals faster. Our network, for the last 5 years in Greece, implements programs for individuals, as well as specialized programs for businesses, which aim to effectively address the conscious and unconscious biases at work, alleviate gender inequalities in the workspace, and support businesses to implement effective policies to create a working environment with equal opportunities for all. Thank you, SKY express, for the opportunity we were given and the company's commitment to equality and inclusion."

About Lean In Network Greece (Athens)

Lean in Network Greece (Athens) is an independent community of volunteers, without a legal form, that officially collaborates with the nonprofit organization Lean in (Leanin.org), founded 10 years ago in Palo Alto, USA by Sheryl Sandberg ex COO Meta (Facebook). Our aim is to support women to achieve their ambitions and create a fair and more equal world. We want a world where people of all genders can pursue their dreams, without biases or other barriers holding them back. A world where girls will grow up to be anything they want and have the confidence they need to do it.

Our organization consists of women who form small circles connected by common interests, professions or geographical areas and by their passion to learn from each other and help each other achieve their goals. In these small groups, women receive and give mentorship from others, strengthen their skills, and gain valuable knowledge.

Leanin.org currently consists of more than 63,000 Lean In circles, in 184 countries in the world. In Greece, Lean in Network Greece (Athens) was established in 2018 and currently consists of 63 circles, with more than 2000 volunteers.

Lean In Network Greece (Athens) officially collaborates with Leanin.org and has the right to use the name Lean in (officially affiliated to Leanin.org), but leanin.org is not responsible or bound for any of the local network’s actions.
